Justice Babatunde Quadri of Federal High court, Abuja has declared the six months suspension of the senator representing Borno South at the National assembly, Senator Alli Ndume as illegal.

Justice Quadri also ordered the National Assembly to pay the plaintiff all his salaries and allowances.

“The suspension of the plaintiff (Ndume) is hereby declared illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional. The purported suspension contained in the letter of March 30 is hereby set aside.

“The first and second defendants (the senate president and the senate) are hereby directed to pay the plaintiff his outstanding salaries and allowances forthwith.”

The judge, however, refused to grant the N500 million damages Ndume asked the court to award him.

“Relief on the issue of damages is hereby refused, because I hope this will facilitate reconciliation in the senate between the plaintiff and other members of the senate and bring peace to our nascent democracy.”

It will be recalled that Senator Bukola Saraki-led 8th Senate suspended the senator for making wrong accusation over the purchase of the 298m Range Rover car when he alleged that the car belonged to Senate President Saraki.

He also made some revelation on the certificate saga of the Kogi West Sanator, Dino Melaye.

Senate committee on ethic and disciplinary on March 30 found the senator guilty and recommended his suspension for six months.
