The Minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has hinted that the Federal Government is planning to declare state of emergency in Education sector in April.

Adamu said this while receiving officials of Niger state led by the state governor, Abubakar Bello in his office on Monday.

The Minister said the ministry has presented the proposal to the National Council of States for graduates of education to henceforth be employed on grade level 10 and urged all the governors to declare same in the respective states.

By the end of April, we are proposing that there will be a declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector all over the country.

“We request all the state governors to do the same in their states and we hope that once this is done our educational sector will improve.

“I will also meet with the governors to appeal to them to give special emphasis to addressing the problem of low standard of education especially at the primary school level,” he said.

He said the proposal would also include offering employment to students studying Education in tertiary institutions.

Earlier, Bello said that the state government was revamping the educational sector through provision of good infrastructure in schools and training of teachers.

He said that the state government planned to establish three teachers’ professional institutes in the three senatorial district, adding that one was already being established in the Munya Local Government Area of the state.

He added that the state will need the support of Federal ministry of education to achieve its lofty goals in education sector.
