The Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Ahmed Ogembe narrowly escaped death on Saturday as hoodlums attacked his venue of empowerment.
Ogembe and some other people were reportedly injured during disruption.
SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the incident took place in Afims Hotel in Okene, where Ogembe was expected to “empower over 1,000 women across the five local government areas of the state — Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi and Ogori/Magongo.”
The hoodlums came to the venue as early as 8am with several weapons, destroyed all the equipments and disrupt the programme.
While addressing his supporters after the return of order, the Senator said it was so sad that some people wanted to take laws into their hands.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State Government has banned all political activities in Kogi Central to avoid crisis.
