The political alignment and permutations towards the governorship election in Osun State come September 22nd continue as one of the leading candidates in the contest, Alh Moshood Adeoti of the Action Democratic Party named former aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Adeolu Durotoye as his running mate.
Alh Adeoti who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress announced this in Osogbo on Tuesday.
Confirming the development, Prof Durotoye said his decision to team up with Alh Adeoti was łinformed by his readiness and zeal to serve the people of Osun State as to rescue the state from bigger hardship.
When asked why he chose to dump PDP, Durotoye said, “you know PDP has been dilly-dally. All the agreements we reached have been reneged by the party leadership. Or party tends not to be sincere, an alternative is needed.
“ADP is the only credible alternative. You can see the gale of defection into the party with Aregbesola’s Special Adviser joining today (Tuesday) and over six thousand people who joined us yesterday.
“We have a credible governorship candidate in Alh Adeoti and it’s obvious that ADP is the party to beat,” he said.
Prof Durotoye is a professor of political science at the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti. He hails from Osogbo, the state capital that’s renowned for being the largest source of votes in the state.
