The Peoples Democratic Party has conducted its governorship primaries in some states to determine who will fly the party’s flag come 2019 general elections.

While the party has also postponed the exercise in some states like Imo and Lagos indefinitely due to what the observers call ‘political permutation’.

Here are some of the decided states 

The results of the Kaduna Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election has emerged with a former member of the House of Representatives, Isa Ashiru, becoming the opposition party’s flagbearer for 2019 in the state.
Ashiru emerged the winner in the keenly contested primary election, polling 1,330 votes out of a total of 2,654 delegates at the primary held at the Kaduna International Trade Fair Complex along Kaduna-Zaria expressway.

Below are the results of the election…

Isa Ashiru – 1,330 votes

Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi – 564 votes

Mohammed Sani Sidi – 560 votes

Total delegates– 2,654 delegates

In his acceptance speech, Ashiru thanked the delegates for voting for him, promising not to betray the confidence they have in him.

Former Speaker, Atunwa Clinches Kwara Ticket 

Abdulrazaq Atunwa has emerged winner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary in Kwara state.

The Other candidates had stepped down leaving only Atunwa and Shaaba to battle in the primary and Atunwa won.

Sokoto Saves Ticket For Tambuwal

The results from Sokoto has emerged with the immediate past commissioner of Local Development and Community Development, Manir Dan-Iya becoming the opposition party’s flagbearer for 2019 in the state.
InsightMedia can report that Dan-Iya will be contending with the incumbent deputy governor, Ahmed Aliyu, who emerged as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate.

The returning officer and chairman of the state gubernatorial primary election, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, said no fewer than 3,496 delegates were registered for the exercise.

The former commissioner, who was the sole aspirant in the primary election held in Sokoto, polled a total of 2,175 votes.

Below are the results of the election…

Manir Dan-Iya – 2,175 votes

Invalid votes – 12 votes

Delegates that voted – 2,187 delegates

Total delegates – 3,496 delegates

In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya promised to secure victory for the party in the governorship poll.

Although, it’s believed that Dan-Iya will save the ticket for the incoming governor, Aminu Tambuwal who is contesting at the party presidential primaries later next week. All indications show that he is likely going to step down for him.

Former Acting Governor, Finitri Defeats others in Adamawa

The results has a former acting governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintiri, becoming the opposition party’s flagbearer for 2019 in the state.
The returning officer and chairman of the state gubernatorial primary election, Adamu Shuaibu, said the former Adamawa Assembly Speaker scored 1,656 votes to defeat four other contestants.

Ahmadu Fintiri – 1,656 votes

Amb. Mohammed Jameel – 465 votes

Bala Ngilari – 78 votes

Aliyu Umar – 8 votes

Dr Umar Ardo – 1 vote.

Concise News learned that two other contestants Sa’ad Tahir and Adamu Modibbo withdrew from the election.

Addressing his supporters shortly after the announcement, Fintiri thanked the party’s stakeholders, especially Atiku Abubakar, Bamanga Tukur and Prof. Jibrin Aminu among others.

The former Adamawa Assembly Speaker also appreciated the effort of the delegates and promised to bring meaningful development into the state.

Fintiri called on the party’s members to support him to capture the Dougirei Government House, Yola, comes 2019.

Useni Set To Simon 

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lt. General Jeremiah Useni (retd), has clinched the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2019 governorship election in Plateau State.

Useni, in a keenly contested primary with 13 aspirants held at the Treasures Inn Resort, Rayfield in Jos, polled 1,018 votes to defeat a member of the House of Representatives, Johnbull Shekarau,  with 340 votes.

Lawmaker, Umbugadu to face Al Mankura’s anointed man

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency, Mr David Umbugadu, has emerged as the PDP governorship candidate in Nasarawa State.

In the party’s primary on Monday, Umbugadu polled 745 votes to defeat his closest rival, Solomon Ewuga, who got 551 votes.

Ishaku, Okowa, Ortom to Run Again

As expected, the party in Taraba, Delta and Benue  has given the incumbent governors Darius Ishaku, Ifeanyi Okowa and Samuel Ortom the opportunity to run for another terms in office.
