Muslims have been urged to always remember death, reflect on legacies and life hereafter in their daily life.

This was the core of the message at the third annual Tijani Ayinla Ramadan Lecture organised by a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ede, Hon. Mansur Oladimeji Tijani popularly known as MOTIJ.

The annual lecture was held as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan and attracted political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), community members and youths across Ede.

Speaking on the theme “Death, Legacy and Hereafter,” Ustaz Sirajudeen Akorede Arinbo Al-Muassis said death is inevitable and that individuals must live purposeful lives that will earn them good remembrance after their demise.

“My focus is on the meaning of death, how we die and what comes next after death. We must think about what will benefit us after leaving this world and facing the Day of Judgment.”

He stressed that wealth and social status do not guarantee lasting remembrance, noting that people are remembered for their good deeds rather than material possessions.

“Not because of money, not because of personality. There are many people who had money and personality, but when they died, that was the end. People did not remember them again,” he said.

The cleric urged Muslims to uphold honesty, observe the five daily prayers, avoid embarrassing others and use their resources — whether money, influence or knowledge — to positively impact others.

Convener of the programme, Hon. Mansur Oladimeji Tijani, said the lecture was initiated to promote unity and strengthen communal bonding during Ramadan.

“It is to bring the community together and have a strong sense of bonding like my grandfather used to do in the old days,” Tijani said. “Ramadan is a serious time for reflection.”

He added that the period also calls for thoughtful decisions, especially as the state approaches the 2026 governorship election, urging residents to align with the APC governorship candidate.

“We want our people to know that as the governorship election approaches, we urge them to support the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. He’s prepared to lead the state with fear of Almighty Allah.”

Also speaking, the Apex Leader of the APC in Ede Land, Dr. Muftau Oyewale, described the programme as impactful and expressed optimism about the party’s electoral chances.

“This is the third year he has been doing it. Hon. Mansur Tijani has done very well,” Oyewali said. “We are working very hard and I am very sure we are going to win the election.”

The APC Chairman in Ede North Local Government, Alhaji Alabi Razak Adesina, commended Tijani for supporting party members at the grassroots, while Comrade Majid Adekunle, APC West Senatorial Youth Leader, said the initiative demonstrated love for the people.

In addition to the lecture, food packages were distributed to attendees to support them during the Ramadan fasting period. Organisers said no participant left the venue empty-handed, as packaged food items were shared among community members.

The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity and successful observance of Ramadan in Ede and Osun State at large.
