The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari is set to kick start campaign in Akwa Ibom.
President Buhari will flag off his campaign for his re election bid in 2019 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Akwa Ibom on Friday.
It should be recalled that the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr Udom Emmanuel had rejected the request of the president to make use of the stadium for the rally because the stadium will be used for Nigeria professional league matches and directed the president to use Uyo Township Stadium which has less capacity unlike the 30,000 capacity of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
But following the decision by Julius Berger to recall their staff from the holiday facilitated the Government of Akwa Ibom to approve the usage of that stadium for the flag off of president Muhammadu Buhari re election bid.
The Akwa Ibom Government has approved the use of the stadium, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Monday Uko has said.
It was further gathered that the presidential candidate of the APC will be accompanied by its National Chairman in person of former Labour chairman and a two time Governor of Edo state in person of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole alongside all party state Governors and party Guber candidate as well as party leaders for the flag off of the campaign which will also serve as the means to formally present the party’s flag to APC gubernatorial candidates of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Delta respectively.
