The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed today’s election till Tuesday due to insufficiency of election materials.

This decision was made after an emergency stakeholders meeting at the INEC headquarters in Abuja late on Friday.

Addressing the newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmud Yakubu said the commission regrets the inconvenience caused by the shift in the date.

He said, “the commission met on Friday to revisit its preparations on the elections and it found out that proceeding with the polls is not good now.

“The commission has postponed the presidential and National Assembly elections till Saturday 23rd of February 2019 and governorship and state assembly till 9th of March, 2019”.

He however said it will meet with other stakeholders today at International Conference Centre at 2pm Today.
