João Félix has revealed that he would love to provide the assist for Cristiano Ronaldo’s 1,000th career goal, describing it as a moment he would be proud to share with a player he grew up idolising.
Ronaldo is closing in on the remarkable milestone, having scored 979 goals in 1,333 competitive appearances, leaving the Al Nassr and Portugal captain just 21 goals away from reaching 1,000.
Félix, who now plays alongside Ronaldo at Al Nassr and for Portugal, said he has already thought about how special it would be to contribute to the historic moment.
“I’ve thought about that. When he’s one goal away, every time I get the ball I’ll look for him to see if I can give him the pass,” Félix told Diario AS.
“That goal will go down in soccer history, and being part of it would be a great moment.”
The desire reflects the strong connection between the two Portuguese forwards. For Félix’s generation, Ronaldo was a childhood idol, while playing alongside him has now turned that admiration into a professional relationship on both the club and international stages.
Félix joined Al Nassr from Chelsea in 2025 and played a key role as the Saudi club won the Saudi Pro League title in the 2025–26 season, ending a seven-year wait for the league trophy.
The triumph was also significant for Ronaldo, giving him his first major trophy since joining the Saudi club in late 2022.
For Félix, helping his childhood idol achieve a long-awaited success made the experience even more meaningful.
“It’s something few people in soccer can say they’ve done. I got to do it with the national team, and now at Al Nassr,” he said.
“It’s an honour, honestly. We grew up watching Cristiano. He was our idol, someone we looked up to, and now I get to share these moments with him.”
Reflecting on the league triumph, Félix said the achievement was particularly special because it allowed him to contribute to Ronaldo’s pursuit of success at Al Nassr.
“Winning the league last year was especially meaningful. Being able to help Cristiano win the title he had been chasing since he arrived” he said.
Félix also acknowledged that Ronaldo’s time at the club will not last forever, making the opportunity to share the pitch with him even more valuable.
“We have to enjoy it as much as we can because we know it won’t last forever. But while he’s here, we’ll be here too,” he added.
