It was a joyous and jubilating moment for the people of Owu Kuta in Ayedire local government and Ede both in Osun State as the Nigerian Army commences the construction of a bailing bridge connecting the two communities.

An Army Construction team from the civil engineering department of the Nigerian Army arrived at the Kuta axis of the River Osun at about 9am in the morning to inspect the project.

The team was led to the site by the monarchs of the two communities, Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Tegbosun III and the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa II and Olu Ileogbo, Oba Adetoyese Agbaje.

Speaking at his palace shortly after the visitation to the site, the Olowu of Kuta appreciated the kind gesture of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai for coming to the aid of the communities.

He said the bridge has been a major blockade hindering the socio-economic development of the people Kuta and its environs as the it will open up the communities to bigger communities.

The monarch stated that the community approached the Chief of Army Staff with a passionate appeal for the construction of the bailing bridge and he graciously granted it with immediate alacrity.

He said, “the River Osun bridge has been a great challenge for the people of Kuta and its environs. We grew to see it as a challenge and we have in the past tried several means to get it constructed but proved futile.

“Recently, we just approached the Chief of Army Staff on a passionate appeal and he graciously accepted it and promised to help us with a bailing bridge.

“The bridge will remain the topmost achievement of my reign as the Olowu of Kuta as I have brought to reality, the dreams of many generations,” he added.

Oba Makama also commended the state government for its efforts in ensuring the construction of the bridge.

In his reaction, Timi of Ede, Oba Laminisa expressed happiness over the development, adding that it also fulfilled aspirations of the people of Ede.
