The African Action Congress has on Monday, May 13, announced the suspension of its national chairman and 2019 presidential candidate of the party, Omoyele Sowore over allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
Reading the communique at a press conference in Abuja, a member of the national executive council of the party, Mazi Okwy stated that the suspension of Sowore is for six months, in the first instance.
He added that the NEC has appointed the National Secretary, Leonard Nzenwa as acting National Chairman.
According to Okwy, the decision was reached at the second meeting of the NEC of the party held on March 27, 2019.
The communique alleged Sowore of “deliberate refusal to convene or hold the constitutionally mandated quarterly meetings of National Executive Committee and other organs of the party”.
