As the hearing into the assault suit against the he Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, resumes today, the monarch failed to appear before an Osun State Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Agbowu of Ogbaagba, Oba Dhikrulahi Akinropo, had earlier this month dragged the Oluwo ti the court alleging that the he (Oluwo) physically assaulted him during a peace meeting on Feb. 14.
The peace meeting was convened by the Assistant-Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Bashir Makama, in his Office in Osogbo where the incident allegedly occurred.
At the last hearing, Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, had ordered the Oluwo of Iwo to appear at today’s hearing.
However, at the resumption of the hearing today, the Oluwo was absent with defense counsel, TS. Adegboyega, arguing that his client was not properly served.
The applicant counsel, Soji Oyetayo, however argued that the Oluwo was served at his office on his instruction and prayed the court to issue a bench warrant to compel him to appear.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, adjoured the case to April 3rd and ordered that the Oluwo must appear. He also ordered hearing notice be served on the oluwo personally and if it is not achievable, the hearing notice and enrolled order of the court should be pasted on his residence, served on his counsel and text message on the hearing notice should be sent to his verified mobile number.
