•••Protesters hit demonstration will continue until govt officials join

#EndSARS protesters in Osogbo on Wednesday stormed the Osun State House of Assembly, lowered the All Progressives Congress flag and replaced with a T-Shirt with the inscription “#EndSARS forever” boldly written on it.

The protesters had earlier converged at Old-Garage and marched to Ola-Iya junction, where they disrupt traffic for about one hour before heading to the Assembly complex.

At the Assembly, the protesters refused an attempt by the Chief Whip, Tunde Olatunji, to addressed them insisting on seeing the speaker, Timothy Owoeye, but were told the speaker was not around, hence, they removed the APC flag and replaced with a shirt with the #EndSars inscription.

The angry protesters left the Assembly and headed to the State Secretariat where they blocked it entrance and created gridlock on the Gbongan-Osogbo road leading to the state capital.

Motorists from Gbongan, Ode-Omu, Ede and even those coming from Ibadan had difficult times accessing the state, as they had to wait for hours in the gridlock.

One of the protesters, Tomisin Adewale, said the protests would continue in the state if the state government officials feel they were too big to identify with us.

In the meantime, Osun Government said it is shocked to find out that the #EndSARS Protest in the State has been hijacked by some criminal elements.

The government in a statement by Wole Oyebamiji, the Secretary to the state government alleged that some hoodlums were shooting in the air at the gate of state government secretariat when the protesters were demonstrating there.

“Today, Wednesday, some hoodlums shot into the air several times at the gate of the State Secretariat and held workers hostage for hours. They then drove dangerously through the State capital in unmarked cars.

“Peaceful protest is a fundamental human right of citizens in a democracy, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s administration totally supports any expression that does not hurt the people or jeopardize the peace of the State.

“Unfortunately, elements with ulterior motives and evil intentions have infiltrated the ranks of peaceful protesters of the State.

The government called on protesters to wary of hijackers, who may want to use the demonstration to carry out their evil plan.
