*** Says Policeman colluding with land grabbers, thugs to silence retired Teacher

A civil right group, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has raised an alarm over moves by a personnel attached to the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (F.C.I.I.D), Alagbon, Ikoyi, one Inspector Geoffrey to kill a retired pensioner, Mr Tajudeen Adeleke Ajikobi over a land issue.

Specifically, the group stated that Geoffrey is colluding with some land grabbers and thugs to dispossess the 89-year old retired teacher of his land measuring over 200 acres located in Odan-Igbomasa in Agosasa Area of Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State.

In a statement signed by the Executive Chairman of CHRSJ, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman on Wednesday, the group accused him (Geoffrey) of disregarding a series of judicial pronouncements on the dispute by siding with suspects believed to be foreigners to dispossess Mr Ajikobi of his land.

“We have it on good authority that after our group reported Geoffrey to higher police authorities on Monday; he has embarked upon series of schemes aimed at grabbing the said land from Pa. Ajikobi. This is coming after he has failed to fraudulently obtained money from him.”

“Mr Ajikobi has informed us that he (Inspector Geoffrey) has been issuing series of threats to him through his (the policeman’s) phone number (+2347056010403) and another number which is an old one which he initially used (+2348066650675) to call him.” Sulaiman said.

The group stated that the latest in the series of threats came on Tuesday 17th day of November, 2020 when Mr Ajikobi began to receive numerous calls from him, “threatening him to disembark from a journey that he won’t see the end.

“Geoffrey who claimed to be a top officer at FCIID Alagbon; Annex police officer; employed by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to deal anyhow with any means against anybody he (Geoffrey) feels bad about. To us this means that he was licensed to take laws into his hands, a clear violation of the rule of law, particularly, fundamental human rights of the citizens and contempt to series of judicial pronouncements.”

CHRSJ had initially accused men of the (FCIID), Alagbon, Ikoyi in August 2012 of illegally interfering in a court matter in suit no ID/1322/2011 that was pending in the Ikeja Judicial High Court of Lagos State regarding a property that was illegally sold by some land grabbers, which was later transferred to Justice O.A Dabiri in Court (47) /T/B/S, Lagos on 5/12/2012.

He listed the police officers involved in the said illegality to include men of the Anti-Fraud Unit of the FCIID, Alagbon Annex to include an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr. Jacob O. Ogbara, Supol Ramon (DSP), Inspector Fatai with phone number (+2348033520360) and an unnamed female police officer with phone number (+2348081777655).

The human rights activist said the property is located at No. 30, Akodu Street, LUTH Road Bus Stop, besides Agboya Hotel, Mushin, Lagos State.

He also listed another case in suit number HCT/221/13 then pending at the High Court of Ogun State, Otta Judicial Division where some personnel of the X-Squad Unit of the department were also seen perverting justice by siding with a hijacker seeking to dispossess an owner of her property in Olorunsogo Estate, Ibokuru Road, Arigbajo Town in Ewekoro Local Government Area.

He listed one Supol Dosumu (DSP) with phone number (+2348037279744 & +2348056993322) and one Inspector Peter with phone number (+2348028615340) and the then deputy commander of the X-Squad Unit as those involved in the illegal act.

According to the group, Dosunmu usually use one Inspector Odewunmi Jide popularly known as ‘bullet’ who was said to be attached to Sango Police Area Command to hijack the land and property of people in Ifo, Pakoto, Onigbedu, Itori, Waasinmi, Arigbajo, Papa, Onipaanu, Iyesi, Bebe, Oko Eye, Ifanyin, Ajilete, Igbesa, Ijoko, Otta, Sango, Mowe, Ibafo, Arepo, Oke-Odan, Magbon, Obada Oko, Lambe, Ibaragun, Akute, Ajuwon, etc before their activities were curbed by sister organizations to CHRSJ.

Sulaiman also accused one Supol Uchenna (DSP) with phone (+2348033323429) who is attached to the General Investigative Unit (GID) of the same FCIID, Annex of turning himself to a debt collector and a court of law before he was petitioned by CHRSJ on 7th day of December 2019.

The human rights activist further accused an Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Rasheed O. Lawal of the Administrative Unit of the FCIID and some officers under him, namely Zadraq (+2348065145590) and Supol Yakub Mohammed (ASP) with number (+2348032498751) of meddling in a pending court case involving the family of late Alhaji Busari Apata of Mokola area, Ibadan in Oyo State.

These cases are not in any way different from that of Pa. Ajikobi’s who is facing a lot from the onslaughts of his traducers are from Akaja in neighbouring country of Benin Republic.

“Our findings have shown that Pa. Ajkobi’s claim to the land is hereditary being a descendant of one Oladepo Ogundoje who is said to have bought the land situated in Odan-Igbomasa in Agosasa Area of Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State in 1802.

“To affirm his ownership, Pa. Ajikobi had in the past secured three separate judgments in his favour but rather than help him affirm his ownership, men of the FCIID have disregarded the judgments and have gone ahead to harass him in the bid of the other parties to take over the property extra-judicially.” He said.

According to him, Pa. Ajikobi has won the judgments; first in 1995 vide suit number ESGI/265Cl/95 at the Grade 1 Customary Court of Ogun State sitting in Ilaro, the headquarters of Egbado South.

The second judgment was obtained at the state High Court in Ilaro in suit number, HCL/7A/96 delivered by Justice Bode Popoola on Wednesday, 26th of February, 1997.

The third judicial pronouncement was a ruling obtained at the same court in suit number, HCL/7A/96 delivered by Justice Bode Popoola, on Thursday 5th of May, 1998.

CHRSJ urged the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Police Service Commission (PSC), the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to dismiss and prosecute Geoffrey from service with immediate effect for perverting the cause of justice, saying refusal to do so would attract mass action which will be akin to the #Endsars advocacy .
