Umahi: Police take over PDP Secretariat in Ebonyi


Operatives of the Nigerian police on Wednesday morning took over the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State located on Abakiliki-Enugu Expressway, restricting movement in and out of the complex.

This is coming barely 24 hours the National Working Committee of the party dissolved and constituted a new state caretaker committee to pilot the affairs of party following the defection of the State Governor, Engr. Dave Umahi, to the federal-ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was gathered that heavily armed police men were stationed at the premises of the Secretariat for several hours on Wednesday.

Efforts made to reach the two claimants to the office, Elder Fred Udeogu and Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, were not successful as at the time of filing this report.

Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Loveth Odah, did not respond to calls put across to her.

Umahi officially defected to the APC on Tuesday and was in Abuja to meet the president, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.
