Again, the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has advised Governor Gboyega Oyetola to demonstrate some seriousness in the governance of the state.

The opposition party asked the Governor to buckle up, feign competence and demonstrate some seriousness in basic governance undertakings in order to cure himself of acute insensitivity and incessant gasping for increasingly elusive popularity for his stagnant government in the state.

The PDP said it is a shame that the governor and his team of confused lieutenants have reduce governance in the state to what it described as optical pafidy, demanding that such executive treachery against the people of the state must stop forthwith

A statement issued by the State Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Y.K Idowu, on Wednesday cautioned Mr Oyetola against aggravating the already volatile emotions in the state especially among the civil servants. Forcing the hands of a formal sector like the civil service to public opprobium in the guise of celebrating the governor on phantom wage increment, according to PDP, was chaotic on its own and reminiscent of a drowning government desperately gasping for breath.

The PDP spokesman wondered when governance got turned on the head that routine payment of statutory entitlements of workers became a groundbreaking achievement worthy of deafening drumming sponsored again by public funds.

Alhaji Idowu further enjoined the governor to seek help from sound administrators like one of his predecessors in office, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola whose tenure witnessed unprecedented developments in the public service without any unbridled gallivanting or spurious melodrama. Idowu noted that such statutory obligations would have been dispatched with administrative circular without much ado because the wage adjustments, even it was total, was non-negotiable right of the workers who are already 4 times overdue for the present shameful bargain.

“Celebrating a butchered thirty thousand minimum wage for insignificant number of workers on levels 1-6, considering the prevailing hyper inflation of staple commodities alone is not only wicked but crude and outrightly irresponsible”

“Again , consequential adjustments of mere 5% of basic salaries of upper scale workers of level 7 and above with those in the medical employ of the State earning a negligible 2.5% adjustments on their basic salary at this time of our national life was a modern enslavement taken too far,” Alhaji Idowu retorted.

The party then warned the leadership of the labour unions in the state to be alert to their responsibility as representatives of public work force and protect interest of their colleagues in the state. The party enjoined Com. Adekomi-led NLC in particular to put all facets of interest in the labour movement into appropriate consideration whenever he is caught in the web of their interest ands greeky government overtures. This call according to Alhaji Y.K Idowu, becomes necessary as these shades of civil servants who are being criminally shortchanged are major propellers of a PAYE based economy like that of Osun State.
