Issues are being treated, resumption soon – Management

Students of the Federal Polytechnic Ede on Wednesday shut the institution’s gate as they demanded for resumption of academic activities.

This is as the school management assured the protesting students of quick resolution to the current impasse between members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic and the management.

The students, led by the Students’ Union President, Kazeem Ajibade have barricaded the school gate shortly after the commencement of a stakeholders’ meeting on the campus.

The demand was resumption of the Academic activities on campus as members of ASUP are currently on strike. They were said to have made their grievances known to the management.

Efforts to speak with the Students Union President proved abortive as he neither picked calls to have a phone number not responding to texts message.

Speaking with InsightMedia, the Registrar of the institution, Alhaji Tunji Agboola debunked report of violence in the school, stating that the demands of the students were understood and are being worked upon by all stakeholders.

Agboola also insisted that the he didn’t scale the fence to move out of the institution, adding that the students allowed him and other members of the management to pass through the gate.

“The demands of the students are understood and all stakeholders are on the table to meet them. We will ensure that they resume as soon as possible. Meetings are being held and we hope the misunderstanding we have now will be resolved soon.

“I didn’t jump the fence. I can’t jump with my car. The students willingly opened gates for me and some others. But like I said earlier, issues are being treated and academic activities will be back on campus.”
