Osun state police command has dismissed an officer identified as Sergeant Adamu Garba who shot and killed a resident of the Osogbo, Saheed Olabomi.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state made this known in a statement she released on Friday.
The statement noted that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command CP Olawale Olokode ordered the arrest and detainment of the Police officer that shot one Saheed Olabomi in Osogbo for disciplinary action.
It stated further that the Policeman, F/NO.467549 Sergeant Adamu Garba has been tried in Orderly room in line with the laid down Rules and Regulations of the Nigeria Police Disciplinary procedure.
“The erring officer has been found guilty of the offence and subsequently dismissed from the Force. The orderly room procedure has been forwarded to Police Force Headquarters, Abuja for necessary action towards prosecution. This, he believes will serve as deterrent to other Police officers”, according to the statement.
Recall that Saheed Olabomi was shot by the said policeman on Tuesday 27th July 2021 and died two days later on Thursday 29th July 2021.
He was shot around Islahudeen, Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo, the Osun state capital.
