The Osun Progressives, a group within the All Progressives Congress loyal to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Saturday elected new leadership of the party in a parallel congress held in Osogbo, amidst violence and gunshots.
Immediate past caretaker chairman of the party, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, was elected as the new APC Chairman while former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, was elected State Secretary.
As the factional congress was ongoing, there was a sporadic gunshots that injured two members of the party as violence erupted.

The violence apart from disrupting the process, also caused panic in the Ogo-Oluwa area of the town.
But the hoodlums were repelled by security operatives who engaged the thugs in gun battle.
