A leading aspirant for the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon Abosede Afolabi-Kasumu Ogooluwa, on Saturday distributed food packages to 2,500 residents of Irepodun, Olorunda, Orolu Osogbo Federal Constituency of Osun State, as part of activities marking the Eid-l-Fitr celebration.
The distribution exercise attracted party members, community leaders and residents, with beneficiaries receiving various food items to support families during the festive period.
It was also to build grassroots support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the August governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
Speaking during the event held at Ogooluwakitan office, Afolabi-Kasamu said the initiative was motivated by her passion for giving and in honour of her late mother.
“I’m from a Christian background, but my mother was a Muslim. She is late now, and one of the ways I celebrate her memory is by giving to people. The best thing I know how to do is giving out, and I love doing it,” she said.
She also called on residents to support and vote for the APC gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming election.
According to her, the party must remain united and committed ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
“We all have aspirations, but the most important thing before us now is the election coming up on August 15. By the grace of God, AMBO will emerge as governor of Osun State, and after that comes my own aspiration to represent Osogbo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives,” Ogooluwa added.
Also speaking, the spokesperson to the foundation, Alao Waheed, said the initiative formed part of ongoing efforts to support residents while mobilising support for the APC candidate in the upcoming governorship poll.
He noted that Ogooluwa had consistently supported vulnerable groups through empowerment programmes, including assistance to widows and distribution of food items to residents.
“As you can see today, not less than 2,500 people benefited from the distribution of food materials and other incentives. This is part of our effort to support the candidature of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji and encourage residents to vote massively for the APC in the August 15 election,” he said.
A community member and founder of Victory Support Foundation, Lawal Olufunmilayo, described the initiative as a significant intervention that brought relief to many residents.
“This is a massive programme. You can see the number of people here today receiving these items. Many people are happy,” she said.
Beneficiaries at the event also expressed appreciation to Ogooluwa for the gesture, describing the distribution as timely support for families celebrating Eid-el-Fitr.
The beneficiaries commended her generosity and prayed for her continued success in her political aspirations.
InsightMedia recalled that Ogooluwa in December last year empowered over 2,000 across the federal constituency with grants to support their businesses.
