Agents of many of the aspirants contesting at the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ekiti State have deserted the polling units across the State.

In several wards visited across four local governments, only the agentd of Biodun Oyebanji were sighted.

Aspirants whose agents were not seen were Senators Opeyemi Bamidele, Dayo Adeyeye, Femi Bamisile, Bamidele Faparusi, Olusola Afolabi, Demola Popoola and Kayode Ojo.

Returning Officers at the various Wards where APC members were seen in large numbers said only one agent turned up.

The primaries were peaceful in areas monitored by our reporter as party members were seen in queues waiting to be counted.

“Only one agent showed up. Others did not present any agent. As you can see, we are peaceful here. No problem.”

It was at Ward 7, Ijesha Modu Ilaejemeje local government, agents of Kayode Ojo, Bamidele Opeyemi were seen standing alongside Oyebanji’s agent.

Only the agent of Oyebanji were seen in places such as Okeero LCDA Ward one and two, several wards in Idosi local government such as Usi, Aaye Ifishi Igbole ward, Orin ora and Ward 3 and 2 in Moba local government.

A member of the APC primary electoral committee, Lanre Issa Onilu, who monitored the party primary, urged APC members to be peaceful and avoid any violent act.

“We want you to keep the peace. We don’t want any violence. There is no stranger among you here. Let the process go on smoothly.” (The Nation)
