Deborah and Atiku

Former Vice President and 2023 presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar has deleted a post he made syndicated on his Facebook and Twitter pages about slain Deboral Samuel after coming under a barrage of threats from fanatics of northern origin who asked him to forget his presidential ambition.

Atiku had earlier condemned the murder of the female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto by some religious fanatics over alleged blasphemy.

“There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice,” Mr Atiku said. “My condolences to her family and friends.”

However, following the bombardment of his timeline on Facebook and several comments on his Twitter by northern Muslims all saying he has lost their votes, Atiku deleted the post.

InsightMedia however, observes that the screenshot of the post is currently trending on both platforms.

Efforts to get comment on the development from one of his aides proved abortive as none was ready to respond.
