A baker in Ifewara, Osun State, Sikiru Adebisi, has been abducted by gunmen carrying arms in the Oke Ado area of the town.

A resident of Ifewara town, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was abducted in the early hours of Sunday around Oke Ado Junction.

According to him, the victim was abducted around 4am while driving his Sienna bus to supply bread to his customers.

The source said, “Adebisi was abducted by some unknown persons around 4am on Sunday. Initially, his family did not know he had been abducted, but they became apprehensive when he did not return on time as he used to after he must have supplied his customers.

“But they got to know when the perpetrators called them and demanded a ransom.

“His family reported the matter to the police on Sunday. The abductors initially demanded N5m but it has been reduced to N500,000. The family is yet to pay and the man is still with the abductors as of Tuesday afternoon.”

A spokesperson for the police, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, adding that a security team comprising police, hunters and vigilantes had commenced a search for the baker.
