The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to cease the publication of fake election results. As Nigerians went out on Saturday to elect Buhari’s successor, several unverified election results began to surface online, with supporters from different parties claiming their candidates were leading in the polls.
In a statement issued by the PDP PCC’s Director of Strategic Communications, Dele Momodu, on Sunday, the council accused Tinubu of publishing dangerous and false information. Momodu claimed that Tinubu owned the newspaper that published the misleading information and accused him of being the only mainstream candidate whose home base was decimated by opposition parties.
Momodu stated that despite the attempts to steal victory by APC thugs in Lagos and Kano, the APC suffered a significant loss in most of the polling centers in Lagos. He went on to say that the only candidate with national spread was the PDP Presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The PDP PCC called on INEC and the Federal Government to put an end to the troublesome behavior of APC chieftains. The council alleged that the APC had previously bullied and blackmailed President Buhari into withdrawing from the currency swap policy and had forced him to publicly display who he voted for in the elections.
The PDP PCC urged President Buhari to find the courage to call the bluff of these desperate politicians who feel they can buy the whole of Nigeria. The Nigerian people await the official announcement of the presidential election results by INEC.
