Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has claimed that either Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi is lying about their victory claim in the just-concluded presidential election held on Saturday, 25th February 2023. The two candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) addressed separate press conferences on Thursday, challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election.
Obi, who had earlier addressed a press conference, categorically stated that he had won the presidential election, while Atiku made his victory claim later in the evening. During his interview with Channels TV, Oshiomhole said that the two candidates were accusing themselves of rigging each other out.
“Between His Excellency Peter Obi, my very good friend, and His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, one of them must be lying. So, between the two of them, they must be trying to rig each other out, so one of them must be lying and when they go to court, I am sure that is one thing that will be shown when you have two people claiming victory,” Oshiomhole said.
He further added, “So, they are indirectly accusing one another of rigging each other out even for the second position.” The former NLC Chairman, who won the Edo North senatorial election on Saturday, urged the candidates to approach the court to resolve their grievances.
