No fewer than three members of the People’s Democratic Party in Erin-Osun, Irepodun local government area of Osun State were arrested on Tuesday over a crisis that erupted at a Party meeting some days ago.

It was gathered that the Youth Leader of the PDP, Lukman Afolabi was among those arrested and detained at the Zone 11 headquarters in Osogbo.

Speaking with InsightMedia, one of the detained persons said the arrest was connected with the leadership tussle within the Party in Erin-Osun.

Two leaders of the Party, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, a former Commisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Barr. Kamorudeen Ajisafe, a former senatorial aspirant for Osun Central, have been at loggerheads over the soul of the PDP in the local government.

Afolabi and others arrested are said to be loyal to Ajisafe.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Zone 11, CSP Benjamin Ayeni said the Party faithful were only invited by the police over an allegation against them and they left later.

“The three persons were invited for questioning over an allegation against them and they were later released same day. Police has power to invited people for questioning.”
