The Osun State Police Command has arrested and detained police officers for extorting commuters along Ile-Ogbo/Iwo axis on.
This was in reaction to the viral video that surfaced online on Friday, The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola stated on Friday that the command frowns at the unprofessional behaviours displayed by the police officers.
In the statement, she said “The Police officers involved in this unprofessional and unethical behaviour have been identified, arrested and detained”.
“The Command frowned and condemned the act in totality as the erring police officers are currently in detention since Thursday, 10/08/2023 and undergoing investigation and eventual disciplinary procedure of orderly room trial for their unprofessional conduct while the senior officer among them has been queried accordingly”, she stated.
She also explained that The Commissioner of Police apprised the residents of the State that, he will never condone any act of indiscipline and unprofessional conduct exhibited by any member of the Nigeria Police under his watch.
It can be seen in a viral video that the Speaker of The House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun caught some officers whom have extorted the sum of #75,000 from travellers,motorists coming to Osogbo to witness the Osun Osogbo festival.
