In a bid to support the widows in the State, a Non-Governmental Organisation on Friday in Osogbo, Osun State capital gave out grinding machines in order to support these women.
According to the founder, Mr Kola Afolabi the empowerment is to ensure unengaged widows are given opportunities to provide for themselves and their families.
He said “this is the second time we’re giving out palliatives this year. We did one in March where some individuals were empowered. Our foundation was birthed to help the less privileged and indigent in the society. Recently, we gave out ten grinding machines to those in need of it.
“This time, the foundation will be giving out 13 widows grinding machines to show their support in the economy crisis”, he said.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of EKA Foundation, Professor Folu Agbedahunsi said the foundation was established and registered 18 years ago and has been working assiduously to provide for the less privileged in the society.
Agbedahunsi said the works and intervention of EKA Foundation extend to education support and scholarships to brilliant students, empowerment of widows and less privileged, among others.
He said “the foundation has helped so many people through higher institution, to empower their lives in the society. The idea of giving the widows grinding machines is to support them and add value to their lives”.

While advising the NGO officials to monitor the widows to make sure that the machines are not sold but used for its purpose, the Chairman advised beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the items given to them.
Beneficiaries appreciated the foundation for their goodwill and support towards the widows.
InsightMedia recalls that the foundation has held no fewer than four Empowerment programmes in the last 12 months and all geared towards economic improvement.
