Manchester City came from behind twice – during the match and in penalties – to defeat their City rivals, Manchester United 7:6 on penalties in the FA Community Shield.

The season opener saw the two teams playing to the best but penalty misses by Jadon Sancho and Jonny Evans against a City’s miss by Bernardo Silva, saw United losing out.

Youngster Alejandro Garnacho had put the United ahead in 82nd minutes but Erik ten Hag could not keep the lead beyond six minutes as Silva, who turns 30 today, scored a header in the 89th minutes.

Marcus Rashford missed a couple of chances in both halves while Amad Diallo hit woodwork.

The Red Devils started the game with no recognized left back and striker with Lisandro Martinez playing as a fullback as skipper Bruno Fernandes leading the line.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the verge of completing a move to West Ham United while sumner signing, Joshua Zirkzee was deemed not match fit.

Earlier before the game, United agreed deals to sign Moussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich and the duo are due for medical on Monday.
