Actress and filmmaker, Adediwura Adesegha, aka Adediwura Blarkgold, is of the opinion that success as an actor is not only defined by winning awards.

She told Saturday Beats, she said, “It’s not always about winning an Oscar or getting a plaque to one’s name. Sometimes, it’s about one’s name being on the map. Once one’s name is out there, one becomes a household name. I want my name to be in people’s faces.”

Urging her colleagues to avoid being stereotyped, she said, “It is one thing for one to have it inside, it is another thing to be given the chance to channel one’s strength to the world. If one is restricted to a particular role, one should let them know that one’s versatility is beyond that.”

“I reject some scripts because I have been playing some characters like mum and aunties too much. As an actor, one can also gather resources, call one’s colleagues and produce a movie that shows one’s versatility. If people use one for a particular role, one can play a different role in one’s own production by selling oneself to the world. One cannot always wait for them to call one for a particular role.”
