A 38-year-old man, Segun Oladeyo, was remanded in custody after being arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court in Igbosere on Wednesday, charged with stealing a car valued at N10 million. Oladeyo, whose residence was not disclosed, faces two counts of conspiracy and theft, as stated by the police.

The prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, informed the court that Oladeyo conspired with others, now at large, to commit the alleged theft.

Osuji detailed that the crime occurred on December 4, 2024, at approximately 10:30 am, at Adekola Balogun Street, Marwa, Lagos.

Oladeyo is accused of stealing a Toyota 4Runner SUV, with registration number KRD 764 FX, valued at N10 million, which belongs to Sayeed Farms Limited.

The prosecutor noted that the charges against the defendant violate Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. Oladeyo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Mrs. O. Wahab granted the defendant bail in the amount of N1 million, requiring two sureties with a similar bail amount.

The sureties must be gainfully employed, with at least one being a blood relative. They must also provide evidence of tax payments to the Lagos state government and reside within Lagos. Additionally, the court ordered the verification of the sureties’ addresses.

Oladeyo was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until he meets the bail conditions. The case was adjourned until February 6, 2024, for mention.
