The World Institute for Peace has announced that General Gwabim Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, will receive the esteemed “The Bearer of the Security Torch (TBST)” award.
According to the Executive Director of the organisation, Comrade Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi at a press conference on Tuesday, This global recognition honors his outstanding contributions to national peace and security.
He said, “General Musa’s strategic leadership in combating insecurity, addressing banditry, and fostering stability across Nigeria earned him this prestigious award.
“He becomes the third person worldwide and the first-ever Chief of Defence Staff to receive this honor. The first person the award was given to was Lt. Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, a former chief of Army staff, and the second person was Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, the former chief of policy and plans of the Nigerian Army.
“This is the third edition of awarding security personnels with the TBST award.
The Executive Director praised General Musa’s dedication, stating that his leadership has protected lives and properties, restored hope to vulnerable communities, and reinforced Nigeria’s capacity to uphold peace.
“The “The Bearer of the Security Torch TBST” award encourages military personnel worldwide to persist in their mission of safeguarding lives and promoting peace.
The Organisation called on Nigerians to support the nation’s military and security forces in their pursuit of a safer, more secure society.
The Director for protocols and operating of the Organisation, Mr Olanrewaju stated that other awards will also be given to other distinguished members of the society, like the Governor of Kwara State, Gov Abdulrahmon Rasaq, traditional rulers, individuals among others.
Other members of the organisation who spoke with our correspondent advised security agencies to make judicious use of the social media in order to combat cybercrime and ensure maximum peace and security across the country.
The programme is themed ” International Peace Conference and Award Abuja 2025″.
