
The Rector of a community based polytechnic in Osun State, The Iresi Polytechnic, Dr. Azeez Olakunle Adewoyin has disclosed that the new graduates of the Higher National Diploma (HND) will be mobilised for the National Youth service Corps very soon.
The Rector disclosed this at a press briefing marking the first combined convocation ceremony of the institution, held at the school premises on Tuesday.
According to Dr Adekunle, “The HND graduants are the first set graduating from the school, over 30 of them and they are from Accountancy and computer science departments”.
“Our HND sets will be mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps, they will be attended to and they will be mobilised”, he explained.
He implored the graduates not to submit themselves to cultism, drugs, cybercrimes and other voices that can destroy their future.
“Believe in yourself, develop the God given skills to it’s potential and above all, live your life with the fear of God, be good ambassadors of your family and this institution “, he advised.
Similarly, the Rector called for the support of the Osun State Government, corporate bodies and individuals to contribute to the infrastructural development of the institution.
“We appeal to the Osun Government, corporate bodies and concerned bodies and individuals to assist the institution in the provision of building fro classrooms, laboratories equipment, official cars and buses, computer sets, solar power supply, books and other learning materials.
“We equally appeal to the regulatory body (NBTE) to give concession to community based institutions like our own on cost involved in accreditation of courses “, he added.
Iresi polytechnic will be convocating 1,914 students, 1,884 National Diploma students and 30 Higher National Diploma at its first maiden convocation ceremony on the 20th of February, 2025.
