The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has reassured residents of Iree in the Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State that they will experience a stable power supply.
Kikelomo Owoeye, the Senior Communication Officer for IBEDC in Osun, responded to complaints from residents who had been enduring inconsistent electricity for over a year.
The community members expressed frustration, claiming they rarely received more than two hours of electricity per day and suggested that the company disconnect the town if it could not guarantee reliable power.
Addressing these concerns, Owoeye attributed the irregular power supply to technical faults within the distribution network but clarified that the community currently receives about six hours of power daily.
In an interview, Owoeye explained that efforts are already underway to restore consistent electricity.
“While the community was previously receiving less than three hours of supply, Iree now enjoys six hours of power daily,” she said.
“Iree falls under Band C, which typically requires a minimum of 12 hours of supply. However, due to a technical issue, residents have only been receiving six hours. We have procured the necessary materials to address this and expect the issue to be resolved by next week.”
She apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged residents to be patient as the technical team works to improve the power supply for all affected customers.
