The ongoing feud between gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label boss, EezeeTee, has escalated, with comedian MC Orobo stepping in to publicly criticize social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) for his views on the situation.

In a viral video, Orobo dismissed VDM’s arguments as “childish and baseless,” accusing him of lacking an understanding of the complexities involved in record label contracts and music rights.

“Every record label deal allows the artist to buy out their catalog over time,” Orobo explained, suggesting that VDM was ill-informed and unqualified to comment on the issue.

Orobo also questioned, “Why is no one speaking positively about EezeeTee?”

His comments have ignited a heated debate online, with some supporting Orobo’s call for a deeper understanding of the music industry, while others defended VDM’s right to share his opinions.

Orobo further urged the activist to “take a step back” and learn more about the nuances of music contracts before offering public commentary.

As the controversy continues, it highlights ongoing concerns about record label practices and artists’ rights within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
