In a bid to develop the health sector of the State and to refocus and restrategise the Agency 2025 fiscal plan, the Osun Health insurance agency has held its annual performance review and strategy retreat for the year.

Speaking with the newsmen at Miscom Golf Ada, on Monday the executive secretary of the Agency , Dr Rasaq Akindele explained the motive and objectives of the retreat while commending the Osun State Governor, Sen Ademola Adeleke for his support to the development of the health sector.

“The purpose of this retreat is to evaluate our past achievements and plan for the future. Over the last year, we’ve introduced numerous activities, and we want to assess their success and map out strategies for this fiscal year.

We’re grateful for the tremendous support we’ve received from all stakeholders, particularly Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, who has been a pillar of support for OSHIA. His dedication to our cause has been instrumental in our success.

According to the Executive Secretary, OSHIA has exciting health activities lined up for residents and scheme participants this year. However, these plans will be communicated after receiving approval from the Board.

“Once the retreat and board meeting conclude, and the services are approved, we’ll announce them to the press”.

While speaking on the past achievement of the Agency, the executive secretary revealed that all debts incurred before his arrival have all been paid.

“One of OSHIA’s notable achievements is paying off all debts incurred before my arrival. These debts included fees owed to health facilities for services rendered overtime”.

The Osun State Head of service, Ayanleye Aina advised the board members to be attentive and innovate strategies needed for the development of the Agency and health sector.

“I advise them to listen, discuss, and come up with a way forward. My word of advice to them is to be hardworking, just like our government, which is doing very well in all sectors.

My message to them is to take their health seriously, as health is everything – not just wealth, but overall well-being. I believe the unity we have at OSHIA will improve their health.

As the Head of Service, I can say that we’re taking steps at all levels to encourage civil servants to enroll in this scheme. In fact, it’s compulsory for them to do so.

I hope other states will emulate our example. I’d be happy for them to come and see what we’re doing here and copy our approach.”

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic planning, Budget and Development Mrs Yetunde Esan emphasised the importance of retreat.

“The primary objective of this retreat is to review the performance of OSHIA within the health sector for the year 2024 and strategize for the 2025 fiscal year.

Specifically, we will evaluate the scheme’s penetration among the Osun population, determining the number of clients who have enrolled. We will also review our policies, programs, targets, and goals, considering our baseline performance and planning for the next level of development.”
