Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, has labeled the president’s critics as “wannabes.” Dare emphasized that Tinubu remains unfazed by the ongoing criticism from his political opponents.

This comes after former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi publicly criticized Tinubu’s administration.

El-Rufai recently accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of abandoning its foundational principles, stating he no longer recognizes the party. He also criticized the leadership within the APC, stating, “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.” Despite still being a member of the party, El-Rufai mentioned he would continue criticizing the APC, even if he were part of Tinubu’s government.

In a separate comment, Amaechi suggested that taking power from a sitting president would not be an easy task, noting that Tinubu and the political class would fight back against any attempts to transfer power to the younger generation.

In response to their remarks on Saturday, Dare told the president’s critics to wait for the 2027 elections to test their popularity.

“While President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, seeking solutions to Nigeria’s energy issues, his political opponents and detractors were busy advancing their own agendas,” Dare posted on X. “As expected, their gathering only served to spread ill will, with nothing new emerging—just the usual opposition rhetoric. Some participants even crossed the line with their attacks, pushing for undemocratic actions.”
