Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has spoken out in defense of popular singer Asake amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding him and a man named Fatai Odunsi, who claims to be his father.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, Amusa highlighted the importance of love and parental presence in a child’s life, suggesting that childhood wounds cannot be healed by fame or wealth alone.
“When Asake covered his face in tattoos, I once remarked that he was either rebranding or masking a pain he wasn’t ready to confront,” Amusa wrote.
Amusa acknowledged the claims that Asake’s father was absent and his mother harsh, but refrained from passing judgment. Instead, she emphasized that what truly matters is that Asake deserves love, not a public spectacle.
She added, “Fame doesn’t heal the wounds of parental rejection. A child raised on ‘I love you’ moves through life differently than one who hears, ‘I want nothing to do with you.’ Some wounds money cannot fix—only deep, intentional healing can.”
Rather than judge, Amusa chose to send love to the artist, urging parents to be present and be the voices their children hear before the world tries to define them.
“A child who feels truly seen and loved at home has less to prove to the world. As a victim of such circumstances, I can relate. I wish him well,” she concluded.
Amusa’s comments come amid the ongoing drama with Odunsi, who recently appeared in a viral video appealing for financial help due to health problems.
The elderly man claimed he had been suffering from a stroke since 2022 and accused Asake of ignoring his calls despite his worsening condition.
In response, Asake addressed the matter in a cryptic and emotional message shared on TikTok.
Singing in Yoruba, he said, “You can’t please everyone, you can’t please the world. But anything you are doing, just do it for God. My own father wants to cajole me, and I have sent so much money to him. I have struggled for so many years, but they want to make life tire me.”
Amid the ongoing issues, Asake’s family also spoke out, accusing the singer of neglecting his daughter, Zeenat, and her mother.
