The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians of stable power supply throughout the holy month of Ramadan, which began on Saturday.

In his message to the Muslim community, Adelabu acknowledged the challenges Nigerians face regarding electricity supply. He recognized that Ramadan requires increased energy usage, especially for Suhoor, Iftar, and Taraweeh prayers.

He assured that the ministry is working diligently to ensure a steady power supply during the month and beyond.

“As the Minister of Power, I am fully aware of the electricity challenges faced by many Nigerians. I understand that Ramadan often demands more energy, particularly for the pre-dawn (Suhoor) and post-sunset (Iftar) meals, as well as during nightly prayers (Taraweeh). I want to assure the Muslim community that the Federal Ministry of Power is committed to providing reliable power throughout this holy month and beyond,” he stated.

Adelabu emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing grid instability and enhancing power infrastructure, with the ultimate goal of providing steady power to every Nigerian household.

“We are focused on improving the nation’s power infrastructure, tackling grid collapses, and expanding electricity access for all Nigerians. Our aim is to ensure that every household can enjoy Ramadan with ease and comfort,” he noted.

The minister also encouraged the Muslim community to use electricity responsibly and be mindful of energy conservation.

“Simple actions like turning off unneeded lights, using energy-efficient appliances, and unplugging devices when not in use can significantly reduce energy consumption. These efforts not only contribute to the stability of our power supply but also align with Islamic principles of environmental stewardship,” he said.

Adelabu described Ramadan as a time for spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion. He reminded Muslims that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink but also about refraining from negative actions and thoughts.

“Beyond fasting, Ramadan offers a chance for spiritual growth and renewal. It’s an opportunity to strengthen our bond with Allah (SWT), seek forgiveness, and strive for betterment. The Qur’an, which was revealed during this month, serves as a guide to righteous living and a source of comfort,” he added.

He encouraged Muslims to devote time to reading the Qur’an and engage in acts of charity, such as Zakat and Sadaqah, to serve the community. Adelabu also called for unity and harmony among Nigerians during Ramadan, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.

“Let’s use this holy month to foster peace, tolerance, and goodwill within our communities. I urge Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s peace, stability, and prosperity, and to seek Allah’s guidance for our leaders and institutions,” he concluded.
