A troubling incident involving the ride-hailing platform inDrive has raised concerns after a passenger, Tobi Afolabi, accused a driver of harassment and sending threats over a negative review. Afolabi, known as Asabi on social media, shared her experience on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

In her tweets, Afolabi revealed, “Posting this here just to let everyone know that inDrive employs drivers who harass passengers and send their friends to harass you over a review. I’ve been receiving calls from this driver and his friends all day after leaving an honest review on Sunday. Use inDrive at your own risk.”

She named the driver involved, stating that if anything happened to her, the driver should be held accountable.

Harassment, Threats

Afolabi posted screenshots of a disturbing WhatsApp conversation with the driver. In the exchange, the driver allegedly sent the following message: “Oluwatobi Omo Afolabi. Do you have an idea why people sleep and don’t wake up again? Literally, your answer here will depend on my next action.”.

The driver further referred to their ride, which took place on March 16, 2025, saying he followed Google Maps to the address provided.

Afolabi responded, “Please, why are you asking me why people don’t sleep and wake up? Our transaction ended on Sunday. Why are you messaging me here?”

The driver then commented on Afolabi’s review, which rated him two stars, noting, “You see, life doesn’t revolve the way you think. Guess inDrive really pays you for this. I will make you famous today.”

Afolabi replied, “I said what I said. Never contact me again.”

However, the harassment allegedly continued, with Afolabi claiming to receive threatening calls and messages from individuals she believes are the driver’s associates.

She criticized inDrive for its handling of the situation, saying, “I reached out to in-app support, and they did nothing, just sent generic apologies. I’m still getting calls and messages from drivers.”

inDrive’s Response

inDrive responded publicly on X, stating: “At inDrive, we have a zero-tolerance policy for unethical driver behavior. We are deeply concerned about this incident. Please DM us the details of the ride, and we will take immediate action against the driver. The safety of users is our priority. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.”
