President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with his service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
The meeting, which began around 3:00 pm on Tuesday, also includes Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu were seen arriving at the Villa, though it’s unclear if they are part of the discussion with the security officials.
Other attendees include National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Directors General of the State Security Service (Adeola Ajayi) and the National Intelligence Agency (Mohammed Mohammed).
While the purpose of the emergency meeting remains unclear, it comes shortly after an explosion rocked a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline in the Bodo community of Gonna Local Government Area in Rivers State on Monday night. The explosion occurred near the Bodo-Bonny Road, which is currently under construction.
