Elder statesman and leader of the Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s performance in office, stating that the President has exceeded his expectations.
Fasoranti made the remarks on Thursday during a courtesy visit by First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, to his residence in Akure, Ondo State.
According to a statement from the First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the 98-year-old praised Tinubu’s leadership and offered prayers for his continued success.
“I am satisfied with what he is doing in Nigeria. Well done,” Fasoranti said, expressing confidence in the President and appreciation for the First Lady’s contributions.
Senator Tinubu described the visit as informal, noting that she came bearing greetings from the President and referring to Fasoranti as a father figure to them both.
The visit was part of her two-day official tour of Ondo State, where she launched various health and empowerment initiatives under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
Earlier, the First Lady met with over 60 traditional rulers, led by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi.
The monarchs praised President Tinubu’s governance and the First Lady’s advocacy work, while endorsing the RHI and backing Tinubu’s re-election.
During an event at The Dome in Akure, Senator Tinubu distributed 10,000 scrubs and 10,000 pairs of crocs to midwives across the South-West.
She also presented a N50 million grant to Ondo State First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, to support 1,000 women petty traders through the RHI Small Business Recapitalisation Programme. Additionally, 200 women received bales of fabric to support their businesses.
In her keynote address, Senator Tinubu commended healthcare workers and emphasized the importance of ongoing training. She noted that nearly 60,000 health professionals had completed training under the federal government’s retraining initiative targeting 120,000 workers.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa thanked the Federal Government for its support, highlighting key developments such as the upgrade of Adeyemi College of Education to a University of Education and the establishment of an Air Force school in Akure.
