Nigerian socialite and crossdresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known as Bobrisky, has disclosed that he was duped out of $990 in an online romance scam.

The popular figure took to Instagram on Sunday to express his shock and disappointment, admitting that he never thought he would fall victim to such a scam.

Bobrisky explained that he had been in contact with the scammer for several months, who initially claimed to be residing in the United States before allegedly relocating to Canada.

Throughout their interactions, the scammer frequently communicated with Bobrisky, calling him often and pretending to show a genuine interest in his life.

“I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would become a victim,” Bobrisky shared. “This guy reached out to me on Instagram, and we’ve been talking for almost a few months now. He calls me almost daily. He said he was living in the USA but had moved to Canada.”

The situation escalated when a client from the US contacted Bobrisky about an advertisement and wanted to send a deposit via CashApp. Bobrisky then asked the scammer for assistance in receiving the payment.

“A few weeks later, someone from the US reached out about an ad and needed a CashApp to send a deposit. I asked the guy I’d been talking to if he could help. He said he would provide me with his CashApp. Once he received the money, he blocked me immediately,” Bobrisky added.

In an effort to warn others, Bobrisky shared screenshots of their conversations and a photo of the suspected scammer, urging his followers to stay vigilant and avoid similar traps.
