Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has issued a passionate rallying cry to supporters ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain, urging them to bring the energy—and even imagine lacing up themselves.

“Bring your boots, your shorts, your shirts—let’s kick every ball together,” Arteta said on the eve of the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal will look to continue their historic European run.

The Gunners are riding high after a stunning 5-1 aggregate victory over defending champions Real Madrid, earning a place in their first Champions League semi-final in 16 years. Despite their strong form, Arteta downplayed talk of Arsenal being favourites, citing the club’s lack of European titles.

“When you look at the history—we’ve never done it,” he noted. “There’s still a long way to go. But if people believe we can, it’s because of what this team has shown against top opposition.”

Arteta called on both fans and players to embrace the occasion.

“We want to do something special,” he said. “The Emirates has to be electric. If we can create that energy, we’ll be much closer to winning.”

He also reminded his squad to savour the moment.

“We’re in this position because we’ve worked hard and overcome so many challenges. Let’s enjoy it. Be present. It’s a beautiful moment.”

There was a boost for Arsenal as Spanish midfielder Mikel Merino returned to training and could slot into the starting XI, especially with Thomas Partey suspended. Leandro Trossard is expected to lead the attack, flanked by Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Martinelli described the semi-final as a dream come true.

“This is the biggest game of my life,” said the Brazilian. “Since I was five or six, I’ve dreamed of playing in the Champions League. We deserve to be here, and we’re going in with the mentality to win.”
