Nigeria has climbed to 43rd place in the latest FIFA rankings, improving by one spot from 44th at the close of 2024.
The update, announced by FIFA via its X handle on Thursday, keeps Argentina firmly at the top, bolstered by a string of strong performances.
Spain holds second place, with France in third. England and Brazil round out the top five, occupying the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Nigeria’s advancement may be linked to their recent success, including a win over Rwanda as part of their World Cup qualification campaign for the 2026 tournament, set to be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
