Popular Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has stirred fresh conversations online after asserting that Nigeria is more secure today than it was 10 years ago.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the outspoken entertainer reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the current administration has recorded measurable progress in tackling insecurity.

When co-host Daddy Freeze asked whether the country is safer now compared to a decade ago, Seyi Law responded without hesitation: “Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago.”

He maintained that the Tinubu-led government has neutralised more bandits than previous administrations dating back to the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The comedian also questioned critics, asking when Nigerians last experienced the wave of bomb blasts that characterised the height of the Boko Haram insurgency.

However, fellow guest and activist Zekeri disagreed strongly. He argued that insecurity remains widespread, pointing to recent attacks in the North-East, increasing cases of kidnapping, and the killing of senior military officers.

According to him, many citizens still feel compelled to fend for themselves due to persistent security challenges.

The discussion extended beyond security to economic and political issues. Zekeri expressed support for Peter Obi, describing him as a more transparent leader whose finances, he claimed, are traceable “down to every kobo.” In response, Seyi Law defended Tinubu’s economic policies, saying ongoing reforms may be tough but are necessary for long-term stability and growth.

The heated exchange has since generated mixed reactions on social media, with Nigerians sharply divided over differing views on security and economic conditions under the current administration.
