The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje has led members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna State on Friday.
The visit came hours after an earlier meeting between Buhari and a high-profile delegation of opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former Minister of Communications Isa Pantami.
Following the opposition’s visit, El-Rufai downplayed any political implications, urging critics not to “lose sleep” over the meeting.
While the APC has not disclosed details of its own discussions with the former president, the meeting follows a recent visit by a delegation of APC governors led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who had delivered Sallah greetings and congratulated Buhari on the completion of Ramadan.
These consecutive meetings have stirred speculation about possible shifts within the APC, particularly concerns about the potential defection of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) faction — one of the founding blocs of the APC and closely linked to Buhari.
However, the former president has reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling party, stating he has no plans to leave the APC.
