Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has strongly refuted rumours that he and four other governors are planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued on Sunday, Governor Idris dismissed the reports as “ridiculously malicious” and labeled them the work of “uninteresting political comedians.” He was responding to social media speculations linking him to a potential coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Idris declared, “I am made in APC, by APC, and for APC.” He categorically rejected any suggestion that he would abandon the party, stating, “For the avoidance of doubt, I am not a political prostitute. I will be the last person to leave my formidable and reliable party for any coalition, no matter who the architects are.”

Idris, who is affectionately called Kauran Gwandu, emphasized his commitment to the people of Kebbi State and his support for President Bola Tinubu’s vision. He stated that his primary focus is on delivering effective governance and building on the achievements of the APC.

“If they tell you again that Kaura is likely to leave the APC, tell them I will be the last man standing,” he asserted.

The statement, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, further highlighted that Kebbi State remains a solid APC stronghold and dismissed the defection rumours as “the dance of mad fellows in the marketplace.”

Governor Idris concluded by reassuring the people of Kebbi of his unwavering dedication to their welfare and the continued progress of the state under the APC banner.
