Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has congratulated Remo Stars on their historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title by donating N10 million to the club, N5 million to the players and N5 million to the technical crew. The gesture followed a personal video call from Osimhen to the team.

Head coach Daniel Ogunmodede confirmed the donation to PUNCH Sports Extra, as the team received nationwide accolades.

President Bola Tinubu hailed the achievement as a testament to the “hard work, discipline, and unyielding spirit” of the club’s players, coaches, and management.

He also commended club chairman Kunle Soname for his commitment to grassroots football and urged the team to carry the momentum into the CAF Champions League.

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun celebrated the win as a landmark for the state, noting Remo Stars’ emergence as the first privately owned NPFL champions since Ocean Boys in 2006.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) described the victory as a moment of “immense pride” for the southwest region, which had not produced a league winner since Julius Berger in 2000.

The achievement drew praise from rival clubs. Rangers International acknowledged Remo’s 15-year journey to the top, while Ikorodu City FC chairman Sanmi Doherty congratulated Soname on both the title and his birthday, calling the success a deserved reward for years of private investment.

Heartland FC’s Emmanuel Amuneke called it “unprecedented,” urging other clubs to emulate Remo’s strategic growth.

Remo Stars will round off their title-winning campaign with three games: away at El-Kanemi Warriors, a celebratory home match in Ikenne against Ikorodu City where they will be officially crowned and a final fixture at Bayelsa United.
