The Oyo State Government has stepped into the ongoing boundary dispute with neighboring Osun State, urging an end to the escalating public exchanges over the matter.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, called for restraint from all parties involved. He emphasized that the two state governments are already engaged in constructive dialogue aimed at resolving the issue and should be allowed to continue without distractions.

Oyelade noted that while the media may thrive on controversy, continued public confrontations only hinder the progress being made by both state administrations.

“The two governments recognize that the longstanding land dispute can be resolved amicably,” he said. “Traditional institutions should support and not obstruct the path to peace.”

He added that Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Ademola Adeleke of Osun are working closely with the National Boundary Commission through their appointed representatives and are optimistic that a resolution will be reached soon.
